Veneers

What are veneers?

Porcelain Veneers are thin, custom made porcelain ‘shells’ permanently bonded to the front of your teeth to improve their colour and/or shape. They do not reduce the strength of the tooth and this is an advantage over more traditional Crowns Veneers produce an extremely lifelike and natural result with no ‘black lines’ at the gumline.

Why have veneers?

Veneers are designed to transform teeth that are poorly shaped or permanently stained, uneven or have noticeable ugly fillings.

How is the treatment done?

A thin layer of enamel is removed from the front of the tooth and the veneer is then made in a dental laboratory from a mould taken by your dentist. A couple of weeks later, the veneer is bonded to the tooth.

Are all front teeth suitable for veneers?

No! Very heavily filled, discoloured or root filled teeth may be unsuitable for veneers and in these situations crowns may be more suitable.
