Oral Hygiene

Maintaining healthy teeth and gums requires regular home care. The aim of brushing and flossing is to remove food debris and plaque from all surfaces of the teeth. If this is not done on a regular bases bacteria quickly grows and this can leads to tooth decay and bleeding gums. If bleeding gums are left unattended this can cause more serious problems to the supporting structures of the teeth. (Gingivitis and gum disease)

We recommend the following daily routine:
Brushing twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste morning and night with a soft bristle toothbrush or an electric toothbrush.

Flossing every night before brushing your teeth. This will help to prevent gingivitis and tooth decay.

Other options you can use for cleaning in-between your teeth are:

  • Fine interdental brushes.
  • Wooden Dental Sticks.
  • Flossette Handles.
  • Reach Johnson and Johnson Flossettes.
  • Handles.
  • Humming Bird.

When flossing under bridges use super floss or floss threaders in conjunction with your normal floss.

Most mouth rinses give a fresh feeling but only have a short-term anti-bacterial effect.

Sugar free chewing gum is also beneficial by stimulating saliva flow which helps prevent decay.
